Our Church History

Chevis Oaks Baptist Church has been located in the same spot since 1960. What began as a mission VBS so many years ago has lovingly grew into a fellowship of believers who not only love and support each other but also the community that surrounds the building that we so lovingly refer to as "church". Our Mission and Purpose

Making Disciples for the Glory of God. Our mission and purpose come together in our desire to make disciples for the glory of God. We believe Matthew 28:18-20 instructs us in 4 aspects of disciple making:

 Trusting – Jesus Christ has called us to recognize that He is completely sovereign over heaven and earth. We can and should trust that He is in complete control over all things, and will be with us at all times as we make disciples.
 
Telling – Jesus Christ has commissioned us to proclaim His glorious gospel to all the peoples of the earth. Viewing this as a joy and privilege, we should share the good news as a regular part of our lifestyle.
 
Taking – Jesus Christ has commanded us to baptize new Christians in the name of the Trinity. After this, we should take new believers into the active life of the church.
 
Teaching – Jesus Christ has instructed us to teach one another to obey everything that He has commanded. This instruction ought to include both knowledge and action.
